“The Danips full form is Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Police Service” is the abbreviation of DANIPS. In India, it is a federal civil service that is responsible for managing the Union territories and the National Capital Territory of Delhi. The Union Territories Police Service was its previous name. It is an Indian government civil service. Officers in the service are in charge of maintaining peace and order and conducting patrols in the Union Territories and the National Capital, Delhi. They are hired directly through the Civil Services Examination. They serve as the Indian Police Service’s feeder cadre.
Every year, the Union Public Service Commission administers the demanding Civil Services Examination, which directly recruits DANIPS officers. Additionally, the promotion of non-gazetted officers to the DANIPS strengthens the cadre.
There is a three-stage competitive selection process for the Civil Services Examination. The preliminary exam is an objective-style test that is administered at the first stage. This test is a qualifying one. It comprises of an aptitude test and a General Studies paper. Candidates can only appear for the “Main Examination” (two qualifying examinations, one each in English and a regional language) if they pass this. Seven papers total are awarded marks. Each candidate must take four General Studies papers, an essay, an English language paper, a regional language paper, and an optional subject (two papers). There’s an interview after this.
